I wish my woman listened to Zappa - by choice. A couple of days ago we were talking about the similarities between Frank Zappa and Donald Trump in their common aversion to the destruction of language and First Amendment rights through political correctness. While serenading her with a selection from, "He's So Gay" she told me that this is exactly why she doesn't like his music; it is inappropriate.
I liked you post until the final paragraph. We all have our opinions and, with Uncle Frank's penchant for casting a spotlight on the ridiculous in society, I wonder how his opinion of the political theater we've had to endure for the past couple of years would have translated into music. Not only have we had a seeming race to the bottom in terms of the two buffoons as our choices but the drama which has played out with wailing and gnashing of teeth from those unwilling to accept the results is over the top.
Despite being unappreciative of your father's music, my wife has told me that she would attend your next show in the Chicago area (but we cannot make the upcoming Bloomington, IL show) because she believes you are a bit more reserved than your father. Like I said, we all have our opinions!!
The first time I saw a live peformance of easter hay was with my newly minted wife in 1980. Frank opened with it and she became an instant fan. Last week at the culture room again I witnessed the sonic beauty and tonally perfect masterwork live by Dweezil and this time with my daughter a veteran Dweezil fan. Perfect guitar tone and phrasing was as Frank intended the last imaginary guitar solo. Women who understand Franks music are truly amazing I have two if them in my life. Everyone should!
